Ships

There are 6 types of ships in voidwars:

  • Non-Combatants, which have no armor. Ships like refuelling or colony vessels belong to this one.
  • Fighters, which mostly have light armor, although some have no armor. They are also quite fast.
  • Corvettes, which have medium armor. They are slightly slower than fighters, but still quite fast.
  • Frigates, which have heavy armor. They are quite slow.
  • Assaults, which have armor ranging from light to heavy. They are the slowest ships in the game.
  • Capitals, which have neutronium armor. Almost as slow as assaults.

If you are looking for some explanation what the different armor classes and weapon types are good for, go to the combat tutorial. As every race in voidwars has its own ship names even for ship classes that are available for every race, a list with all ship names has been included to this article.

Racial Differences

Bakani

Bakani have ships with strong shields and weak hulls. As shields have a high hit point regeneration rate, this is a true advantage, and makes Bakani ships the strongest in the void. If the enemy has EMP ships, this advantage is cut a bit, though.

Etrib

Etrib have ships with weak or even no shields and strong hulls. As the regeneration rate of hulls is quite low, this is a disadvantage in most cases and makes Etrib ships the weakest in the void. Ships with strong armor, like capitals, benefit from this, though, as it is harder to destroy a neutronium hull than a shield of equal hitpoints.

Terran

Terrans have ships with medium shields and medium hulls. Therefore, they neither have a special advantage nor disadvantage and their ships stand between Etrib and Bakani ships in terms of combat performance. In general though their ships tend to be slightly faster, generally having the same speed as the next level up of the other races.

Repair

Ships can be repaired by placing the ship over a shipyard. Currently there is no Hull regen other then when that ship is over the shipyard. The Current Hull Regen for a ship over a shipyard is: 60 hull/tick.

This makes Shields very useful, because Shields do repair throughout combat.

Fleets

Your ships travel separately or in fleets. When joined into a fleet, all ships will travel at the speed of the slowest ship.

You can have ships join a fleet by ticking the boxes of the ships or ship groups of interest, and clicking the "add" button in the fleet of interest.

By default, ships of the same type are listed as a group - if you have three probes in group you'll see one line listing "Probe (3)". Click the "View full fleet list" button to reveal the list of all ships in that fleet, each ship with its own checkbox to allow you to assign individual ships to other fleets.
