Fuel

Fuel range per sector is given for each ship when you click the info link. For a Probe it will say Fuel range 180, meaning that it can travel 18 straight sectors and then will be incapable of moving.

Important: According to Pythagoras, diagonal fuel cost is not 1 sector, but the root of 2 - roughly 1,41 times as much as for a straight sector. This is only true out in reality though, in voidwars the diagonal fuel cost is 1,5 times as much as for a straight sector. 2 diagonals is equal to 3 straight sectors. See also Quantum Physics

There are no additional fuel costs for actions like combat or traveling through wormholes.

Refueling ships: The ship needs to stand still on one of your planets that has a shipyard on it. Only your Homeworld starts with a shipyard, your colony would need to build one first. Additionally, there are some stations that can refuel ships, but only if the ship is smaller than the station itself (Research -> Ship database). These stations are the cheap Refueling Station, the armed Outpost and the gigantic Starbase. Allied planets and stations will also refuel your ships.

green, yellow, red and black fuel arrows

You will see the colour of your movement path arrows change. As long as they are green, the ship still has at least 50% of its total fuel, yellow means it's less than 50%. Red indicates that it will be at less than 50% of the current fuel (If your fuel tank is full, then yellow and red are identical), and black means it will run out of fuel before it can reach that sector.

Important: Ships still move even without fuel, but it takes them 10 hours to travel through one straight sector!

Refueling takes time, your ships currently get 10 units (1 sector) on every tick.
